Members of Copeland Borough Council voted unanimously to approve two applications to extend the operational lifespans of the Haverigg II and Haverigg III Wind Farms in a virtual Planning Panel meeting on 14th October 2020.
Arcus was delighted to have led the planning submission on behalf of Thrive Renewables Ltd (Haverigg II Wind Farm) and Windcluster (Haverigg III Wind Farm). Arcus and the applicants engaged extensively with Natural England and Copeland Borough Council to identify any potential environmental impacts at an early stage and propose suitable mitigation in the form of habitat enhancements for breeding gull colonies at the South Walney Nature Reserve.
These planning consents pave the way for further Section 73 variation of conditions applications to enable existing wind turbines to be retained for a longer period than originally consented.
