Over the past 18 months, Arcus has supported EDF Renewables by leading the environmental and planning aspects for the re-design of the consented Heathland Wind Farm.
Located across South Lanarkshire and West Lothian local authority boundaries, the primary goal of the project has been re-design the consented scheme to optimise the electricity generation whilst minimising any additional effects compared to the approved wind farm.
The project team undertook various surveys, assessments and extensive consultation for the EIA, all of which fed in to developing an updated layout proposal for the site.
The submitted wind farm application has a generation capacity of up to 80 MW, an increase of approximately 22 MW from the previous consent. It consists of 14 turbines of tip heights between 149.9 m and 180 m, and associated infrastructure.
We have been delighted to be working with EDF Renewables and LUC on the Section 36 application for Heathland Wind Farm, which has recently been submitted to the Scottish Government.
