John Allsopp shortlisted in Rising Star Green Energy Awards

Arcus is delighted to announce that John Allsopp has been shortlisted in the Rising Star Award category for this year’s Green Energy Awards, hosted by Scottish Renewables.

This builds on John’s success earlier this year when he was presented with the Professional Award at the Young Professionals Green Energy Awards.

John joined Arcus as a graduate ecologist and undertook his first work in the renewable energy sector in April 2012.  In the last two years, John has worked on over 50 renewable energy projects, providing over 40% of his time delivering Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) services to clients on 6 projects.

The role of ECoW is challenging as it involves ensuring environmental protection and legal and planning compliance whilst managing contractor and client expectations, knowledge and activities. It requires substantial knowledge of environmental issues and their practical management which John has repeatedly demonstrated during his time working in this field.

The Scottish Renewable Energy sector is currently experiencing an unprecedented level of construction activity. This requires management to ensure it respects the environment and upholds the developer’s and the industry’s reputation. John’s continuing contribution to the sector, as recognised by his clients, has been to minimise environmental harm and enable responsible development of Scottish wind farms with a consented capacity of over 340 MW. For someone with so few years of experience, this is a remarkable achievement.

We wish John well for the awards, which will be held on Thursday 1st December at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
