It’s now almost one year since the first lockdown was announced, and since then the vast majority of Arcus staff have been working from home. We have taken the time to reflect on what has been a challenging and different year to what any of us could ever have expected. In the past year we have hired over 20 new members of staff, from Graduate and Year in Industry Consultants to Senior Environmental Consultants and Ecologists. Our HR and Support Team have worked hard to ensure all staff have settled in to the new working environment, and particularly with the new members of staff who have joined the company without meeting the rest of their team, other than on MS Teams! Our IT infrastructure has also meant we have made the move from working in the office to working at home relatively seamlessly, with only the occasional hiccup.
Over the course of the year, we have hosted internal staff training sessions, held regular coffee mornings for new members of staff to get to know the team, had a successful virtual Christmas Party which meant all members of staff could join together, including our team from Cape Town and even attempted our usual Friday drinks so staff could wind down for the weekend together.
This year has created many challenges, including home schooling, juggling child care with work commitments and adjusting to working from home, but we are proud of how our team has managed so well and we are looking ahead to one of our busiest and most successful years to date.
