On 26th October 2020, the Scottish Government’s Planning and Environmental Appeals Division allowed an appeal by the Scottish Salmon Company, granting planning permission to the development of an Atlantic salmon marine fish farm in North Aird, Loch Shieldaig in the Highlands. The development will consist of 4 x 100 metres circumference pens, adjacent to an existing operational site, whilst ceasing operations at another site. This ensures that the operational sites within the area are in accordance with the most up to date standards and guidance.
The Arcus team involved in the project produced appeal evidence regarding ecology, landscape and visual impact, and planning policy in order to successfully demonstrate appropriate levels of environmental impact and compliance with the Highland Council Local Development Plan.
Arcus was involved in the project throughout and helped secure a positive outcome through successfully addressing considerations regarding the impact of the development, including the location of the site within a National Scenic Area.
Arcus offers support with planning applications and appeals. If you have any projects you are looking to take forward to planning, please contact the Planning Team at firstname.lastname@example.org to see how we can support you.
