Visualisation – Photomontage
Arcus were awarded and prepared the LVIA visualisations (photomontages) for Brockloch Rig Wind Farm.
Brockloch Rig (Windy Standard III) Wind Farm is a proposed 20-turbine development located approximately 7km northeast of Eriff in the Dumfries and Galloway region of Scotland.
Arcus were sub-contracted to complete the visualisations which incorporated wirelines, cumulative wirelines and photomontages. The visualisations had to meet the Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) guidelines.
Photography files were supplied by the client to the Arcus visualisations team and were processed in-house. This involved stitching of the single frame images into panoramas using cylindrical projections. In total 18 viewpoints were used in the final submission of the Environmental Statement. The cumulative wind farm assessment included 48 sites.
As the site included an intensive tree felling and replanting plan, the areas of proposed woodland changes had to be incorporated into the photomontages (an example of which can be seen in the animation above showing Viewpoint 1, the anticipated view from the summit of Cairnsmore of Carsphairn). This hugely increases the complexity of the visualisations.
All of the visualisations were produced using Resoft Windfarm software.
The huge body of work resulted in Arcus producing 115 A1 and A3 sized figures for the Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) element of the Environmental Statement.
