We have managed the complete EIA process and Section 36 application to the Scottish Government for this proposed 66MW development located in West Lothian.
We have supported the client, Enel Viento, in all aspects of the development, from undertaking environmental surveys and developing a consultation strategy, through to negotiating a grid connection offer and providing advice in resolving a complex aviation issue affecting the site. This has required the management of a variety of complex issues in order to find solutions for the client and deliver a high quality project. The site had extensive peat coverage and plantation forestry, adding a layer of complexity to the design process. The understanding and experience of these issues in Arcus has allowed us to provide the developer with the highest quality of advice during the conceptual design stage.
Following an objection to the proposal by West Lothian Council, Arcus co-ordinated the Harburnhead team at Public Inquiry, providing expert witnesses on most environmental areas. The project was granted Section 36 Consent on 8 July 2014. Arcus managed the discharge of pre-commencement conditions, assisted in the process of securing investment and project finance, and managed the Balance of Plant tendering process. Arcus continues to be involved through the ongoing construction phase, providing an overseeing role, Ecological Clerk of Works, Archaeological works supervision and water quality monitoring services.
