Client: The City of Edinburgh Council
Services: Flood Risk Assessment and Flood Modelling
Arcus was commissioned to undertake a Flood Risk Assessment and Flood Modelling to remove an outstanding SEPA objection for the installation and operation of a micro-hydro turbine on the Water of Leith, Edinburgh.
Arcus undertook extensive consultation with the City of Edinburgh Council and SEPA to confirm the requirements for flood modelling.
A complex 1D flood model of the Water of Leith was developed in Flood Modeller software which demonstrated that the hydro scheme would not cause offsite flooding during the 1:200 year flood event plus climate change.
The City of Edinburgh Council and SEPA reviewed the model and had no objection to the development, with the scheme being granted planning permission in March 2019.
