Rigged Hill Windfarm Repowering Consented

Arcus is delighted to have supported ScottishPower Renewables over more than 5 years on the Rigged Hill Windfarm Repowering project in Northern Ireland, which was consented at planning committee in October 2021.  Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council voted unanimously to adopt the officer’s recommendation for approval for the repowering, following no consultee organisation objections.

Rigged Hill Windfarm was developed and constructed by RES and B9 Energy Services in 1995, and then acquired by ScottishPower Renewables.  It consists of ten 0.5 MW turbines, each 57 m height to tip.  The proposals are to decommission the existing turbines and replace them with seven c. 4 MW turbines, each up to 137 m height to tip.

Arcus co-ordinated the Rigged Hill Windfarm Repowering EIA from the outset, through EIA Scoping and the design process up to submission with an Environmental Statement (ES), then provided post-submission support on environmental topics, which included two ‘FEI’ documents to clarify matters raised by consultees.
