Graduate Hydrologist

UK Wide / Remote

Arcus is recruiting an enthusiastic and talented Graduate Hydrologist. Working as part of the UK-wide Hydrology Team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to further develop their career, working on a range of exciting projects within the renewable energy and built environment sector. 

The Role: 

  • Support the production of Flood Risk Assessments and SuDS Management projects within the renewable energy and built environment sectors; 
  • Conduct technical design including hydraulic drainage design within Micro Drainage and hydraulic modelling within Flood Modeller and related modelling software; 
  • Analyse technical documents and conduct desk-based research on projects; 
  • Liaise with stakeholders within the private and public sectors; and 
  • Providing advice to clients across a wide range of sectors. 

You will receive training to conduct technical works including: 

  • Producing Flood Risk/Consequence Assessment in aid of planning applications; 
  • Conducting Sustainable Drainage Strategy and Design within Micro Drainage; 
  • Preparation of hydraulic flow data using FEH, Winfap and ReFH; and 
  • 1D and 2D hydraulic modelling within Flood Modeller. 

Skills & Experience: 

  • A relevant degree (including but not limited to Environmental Science, Geography, Hydrology, Civil or Environmental Engineering); 
  • Familiarity with relevant software (GIS, CAD); 
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams; 
  • Exemplary planning, organisational and time management skills; 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; and 
  • Academic or professional experience within hydrology, flood risk management, SuDS or hydraulic modelling is desirable, but not essential. 

 

Support Administrator

Glasgow or York

We require a dedicated, proactive and professional administrator to fulfil the job responsibilities below.  This role will be based in either our York or Glasgow office with occasional flexibility to work from home.

Job Responsibilities

General Administrative Support

  • Monitor and manage office supplies, including stationery, equipment and refreshments

  • Liaise appropriately with colleagues as well as sub-consultants, existing and potential clients and other relevant bodies

  • Create new jobs using the project management system and make any updates to job records as requested

  • Arrange travel and accommodation for site visits and other necessary staff travel

  • Process training and conference or event bookings

  • Reconcile the company credit card statement with spending records

  • Check and sign off or query administrative invoices

  • Assist technical teams with collating and submitting tenders for new projects

  • Undertake any other duties considered reasonable within the scope and purpose of the post as may be instructed by the line manager

Reception and Office duties

  • Manage incoming calls in a polite and informative manner, taking and relaying messages appropriately

  • Greet visitors in a friendly, professional manner, showing guests to meeting rooms and providing refreshments as required

  • Manage and record all incoming and outgoing post, summarising and reporting on outgoing postage charges monthly

Graduate Civil / Transportation Engineer

Glasgow, York or South East England

We are recruiting for an articulate and enthusiastic Graduate Civil or Transportation Engineer with recent experience who will work on a range of projects across different sectors throughout the UK.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing day to day technical input suitable for role as part of a team of Engineers and Technicians;
  • Undertaking tasks assigned by the team leader to support design delivery;
  • Providing regular feedback of progress to the team leader to assist in the management of delivery and ensure that project delivery meets the client’s objectives and requirements;
  • Ensuring tasks are carried out and completed in accordance with the agreed scope of works, timescales and budgets;
  • Working to established Company systems as set out within the Integrated Management Systems (IMS);
  • Assisting team members with consultation with stakeholders; and

CAD Technician / Senior CAD Technician

Glasgow

Arcus is recruiting enthusiastic and motivated individuals with experience in using Autodesk software to produce 2D CAD drawings and Civil 3D models for infrastructure.  Candidates will have the opportunity to support the team on a wide variety of power and renewables projects across the UK and Ireland.

The Role:

  • Managing and producing technical documents including drawings, models and quantities;
  • Engaging with clients, sub-consultants and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Supporting the team with project delivery.

Skills & Experience:

  • HNC in a relevant subject such as Civil Engineering, or equivalent;
  • Experience, advanced user of Autodesk Civil 3D;
  • Experience with Excel, AutoCAD and Autodesk Vehicle Tracking;
  • Preparation of drawings and models;
  • Experience in renewables would be beneficial.

Consultant / Senior Transport Planner / Engineer

The Role:

Consultant Ornithologist

Arcus is recruiting motivated and enthusiastic Senior and Consultant Ornithologists’ to join our growing Ecology & Ornithology Team across the UK. Although site survey will be required, the roles are largely desk-based, and a successful candidate will have good consultancy background in ornithology, and be looking to develop their skills in the renewable energy sector.

The Role:

  • Co-ordinating and scheduling ornithology field surveys and surveyors;
  • Ornithology Technical Report writing,
  • Supporting senior ornithologists and other team members;
  • Collecting, managing and analysing ornithology survey data; and

Skills & Experience:

Senior Planning Consultant

Arcus is recruiting motivated and enthusiastic Town Planners to join our English and Scottish teams at Consultant and Senior level. The successful candidates will join a market leading planning team specialising in renewables planning.

The Role:

  • Planning support role within a planning team of 10 professional planners.
  • Preparation of all required planning documentation from feasibility to post consent.
  • Submission of renewable energy and infrastructure planning applications.
  • Assisting with Section 36 and NSIP projects.
