HR Advisor

Glasgow / York

Arcus has an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR Advisor.  The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional HR advice and support to managers and staff, delivering key HR projects, and working with the HR Manager to ensure the smooth running of the HR function.

The Role:

  • Provide HR advice and support to managers and staff;
  • Assist with managing employee relations casework;
  • Support the recruitment process, ensuring compliance with employment legislation;
  • Assist with the coordination of inductions and training and absence management;
  • Design and implement policies and procedures in respect of HR strategy;
  • Prepare/issue HR letters, contracts and manage personnel records; and
  • Provide administrative cover for colleagues within the Support Team when required.

Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant qualification in HR Management;
  • Previous experience in a similar role;
  • HR Generalist experience;
  • Experience in recruitment and selection;
  • Knowledge of UK employment law; and
  • Membership of CIPD would be useful.

Environmental Consultant / Senior Consultant

Glasgow / York

Arcus is recruiting motivated and talented people to join our growing Environment Team. Candidates will support the team on a range of projects across the UK and Ireland by assisting in the coordination of environmental assessments, analysing environmental information and liaising with technical specialists to produce high quality deliverables.

The Role:

  • Managing multi-disciplinary projects and tenders;
  • Mentoring junior members of staff;
  • Liaising and establishing relationships with consultees and clients; and
  • Completing environmental assessments and other deliverables to a high quality.

Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Environmental Management), or equivalent;
  • Understanding of environmental assessment and the importance of sustainability;
  • 3+ years in environmental consultancy or a related role;
  • Knowledge of the EIA process and renewable energy projects; and
  • Membership of a recognised professional institution preferred (e.g. IEMA).

Senior Ecologist / Principal

Glasgow

Arcus has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior or Principal Ecologist with extensive consultancy experience, particularly within the renewable energy sector.  The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects, as well as team workload and resources.

The Role:

  • Plan, co-ordinate and manage ecology surveys;
  • Project Management of large scale, high profile projects;
  • Writing and review of technical reports and other deliverables, including EIA and HRA;
  • Line management and mentoring of staff and management of field-based subcontractors; and
  • Provision of technical advice to clients on development and construction projects.

Skills & Experience:

  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management;
  • Experience in the onshore or offshore wind sector is desirable;
  • An established track-record in EcIA, HRA and technical report writing;
  • Experience in stakeholder consultation and client engagement;
  • A broad and well round understanding of Scottish ecology, however additional expertise in habitats and botany or fisheries ecology is an advantage

Consultant Ornithologist

Glasgow / England

Arcus is recruiting motivated and enthusiastic Senior and Consultant Ornithologists’ to join our growing Ecology & Ornithology Team across the UK. Although site survey will be required, the roles are largely desk-based, and a successful candidate will have good consultancy background in ornithology, and be looking to develop their skills in the renewable energy sector.

The Role:

  • Co-ordinating and scheduling ornithology field surveys and surveyors;
  • Ornithology Technical Report writing,
  • Supporting senior ornithologists and other team members;
  • Collecting, managing and analysing ornithology survey data; and
  • Engaging with project managers, stakeholders and clients.

Skills & Experience:

  • An undergraduate degree in ecology/zoology or a related field, or sufficient experience and knowledge;
  • Experience in carrying out/co-ordinating bird surveys and analysing data;
  • A strong understanding of relevant ornithology survey guidance and legislation;
  • Full driving licence; and
  • GIS and Collision Risk Modelling experience and / or Schedule 1 species licence beneficial.

Planning Consultant

England/Glasgow

Arcus is recruiting motivated and enthusiastic Town Planners to join our English and Scottish teams at Planning Consultant level. The successful candidates will join a market leading planning team specialising in renewables planning.

The Role:

  • Planning support role within a planning team of 10 professional planners.
  • Preparation of all required planning documentation from feasibility to post consent.
  • Submission of renewable energy and infrastructure planning applications.
  • Assisting with Section 36 and NSIP projects.
  • Assistance with the team’s Business Development strategy where appropriate.

Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant Degree;
  • Licentiate Planner or qualified RTPI (or equivalent) Planner;
  • Consultancy and renewables experience preferred but not essential;
  • Understanding of EIA and multidisciplinary planning projects;
  • Detail conscious and interested in the preparation of planning reports.

Acoustics Consultant / Senior Consultant

York, Glasgow, South East England

Arcus is recruiting a motivated and talented Acoustics Consultant to provide support on a wide range of projects, including construction, infrastructure, industrial and residential schemes. The successful candidate will provide high quality advice from initial consultation to delivery of clear, concise final reports.

The Role:

  • Assessment of noise from various developments using appropriate standards;
  • Undertaking onsite noise and vibration measurements for a range of projects;
  • Managing projects to programme and budget;
  • Providing technical advice to clients across a range of sectors; and
  • Developing and maintaining client relationships.

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in acoustics;
  • Degree in Acoustics or related discipline;
  • AMIOA or MIOA status;
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner; and
  • Driving licence essential.

Senior Hydrologist

South East England

Arcus is recruiting an enthusiastic and talented Senior Hydrologist.  Working as part of the UK-wide Hydrology Team, the successful candidate will have a broad range of experience in supporting development projects with the skills and enthusiasm to further develop the hydrology business in south east England. 

The Role:

  • Managing projects and coordinating complex technical documents;
  • Building on our established client relationships and projects;
  • Mentoring and reviewing outputs of team members; and
  • Providing advice to clients across a wide range of sectors.

Skills & Experience:

  • Chartered Membership of CIWEM, or working towards chartership;
  • Experienced in EIA projects, Environmental Permitting and Construction Management;
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; and

Senior Landscape Architect

The Role:

  • Prepare, and support the production of hard and soft landscape designs;
  • Prepare hand drawn or computer-generated landscape visuals and graphics / presentations;

Skills & Experience:
