Graduate Civil / Transportation Engineer

Glasgow, York or South East England

We are recruiting for an articulate and enthusiastic Graduate Civil or Transportation Engineer with recent experience who will work on a range of projects across different sectors throughout the UK.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing day to day technical input suitable for role as part of a team of Engineers and Technicians;
  • Undertaking tasks assigned by the team leader to support design delivery;
  • Providing regular feedback of progress to the team leader to assist in the management of delivery and ensure that project delivery meets the client’s objectives and requirements;
  • Ensuring tasks are carried out and completed in accordance with the agreed scope of works, timescales and budgets;
  • Working to established Company systems as set out within the Integrated Management Systems (IMS);
  • Assisting team members with consultation with stakeholders; and
  • Working in close collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines as required to deliver project requirements.

Skills & Experience:

  • Accredited Engineering Degree;
  • Graduate membership of a relevant, recognised professional institution, aspiring to Chartered Engineering status;
  • Ability to work with others from all disciplines and other professionals to optimise and develop innovative designs; and
  • Some knowledge of Autodesk software products an advantage.

CAD Technician / Senior CAD Technician

Glasgow

Arcus is recruiting enthusiastic and motivated individuals with experience in using Autodesk software to produce 2D CAD drawings and Civil 3D models for infrastructure.  Candidates will have the opportunity to support the team on a wide variety of power and renewables projects across the UK and Ireland.

The Role:

  • Managing and producing technical documents including drawings, models and quantities;
  • Engaging with clients, sub-consultants and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Supporting the team with project delivery.

Skills & Experience:

  • HNC in a relevant subject such as Civil Engineering, or equivalent;
  • Experience, advanced user of Autodesk Civil 3D;
  • Experience with Excel, AutoCAD and Autodesk Vehicle Tracking;
  • Preparation of drawings and models;
  • Experience in renewables would be beneficial.

Hydrologist

South East / Maidstone

Arcus has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented Hydrologist with a range of experience in surface water hydrology with the skills and enthusiasm to join the team to work on a range of projects across the UK.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the delivery of Water Quality Monitoring programmes across the South East

Heritage Consultant / Senior Consultant

Glasgow, York or North East England

Arcus is looking for an experienced Heritage Consultant to join our Archaeology Team.  This role will involve both field work and also office-based reporting. Key to this role will be experience writing technical reports and the ability to develop confidence and trust in your relationships with clients, stakeholders, statutory consultees, contractors and colleagues alike.

The Role

  • Provide senior level to support to the Heritage Team;
  • Manage all heritage aspects of projects;
  • Plan, co-ordinate, manage and deliver survey and reporting requirements
  • Provide technical advice to clients and in-house teams; and
  • Liaise with planning authorities and relevant stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

  • CIfA Accreditation preferred;
  • Knowledge of British archaeology and UK development permitting regimes;
  • Experienced in identifying archaeology and writing technical reports ((e.g. Desk-Based Assessments, Heritage Statements, EIA Chapters, etc.); and
  • Experience in consultancy and renewable developments is beneficial.

Consultant / Senior Transport Planner / Engineer

Glasgow, York or South East England

Arcus is recruiting for talented, enthusiastic and motivated individuals with experience in transport assessments, travel plans, construction traffic management plans along with a   strong grasp of transportation engineering, preferably with exposure to the renewables sector. This opportunity is well suited for someone who is looking to develop their existing skillset.

The Role:

  • Working on a variety of power and renewable projects across the UK and Ireland;
  • Managing and producing technical documents to support EIAs;
  • Presenting technical advice to clients and third parties;
  • Motivating and managing junior members of staff; and
  • Maintaining and building on our established client relationships and projects.
  • Organised, with a well-structured approach to the delivery of tasks, with an ability to adapt to a varied workload

Skills & Experience:

  • Working towards or ideally chartered for the senior role with CILT or CIHT;
  • Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Civil Engineering or Transport Planning), or equivalent;
  • A strong grasp of transportation engineering with prior experience in transport planning;
  • An appreciation of transportation assessments within the EIA process;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong report writing ability; and
  • Experience with Excel, TRICS, AutoCAD, Arcady, Picady or LinSig would be beneficial.

Environmental Consultant / Senior / Principal Consultant

Glasgow / England

Arcus is recruiting motivated and talented people to join our growing Environment Team. Candidates will support the team on a range of projects across the UK and Ireland by assisting in the coordination of environmental assessments, analysing environmental information and liaising with technical specialists to produce high quality deliverables.

The Role:

  • Managing multi-disciplinary projects and tenders;
  • Mentoring junior members of staff;
  • Liaising and establishing relationships with consultees and clients; and
  • Completing environmental assessments and other deliverables to a high quality.

Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Environmental Management), or equivalent;
  • Understanding of environmental assessment and the importance of sustainability;
  • 3+ years in environmental consultancy or a related role;
  • Knowledge of the EIA process and renewable energy projects; and
  • Membership of a recognised professional institution preferred (e.g. IEMA).

Ecologists (various levels)

On the back of a growing workload and new opportunities, we are seeking talented Ecologists at various levels (Consultant/Senior/Principal) to join our Ecology Team in any of our UK offices.  These positions would be well suited to either an experienced consultant or someone looking to build on their existing skillset. Consultant Ornithologist

England

Arcus is recruiting motivated and enthusiastic Senior and Consultant Ornithologists’ to join our growing Ecology & Ornithology Team across the UK. Although site survey will be required, the roles are largely desk-based, and a successful candidate will have good consultancy background in ornithology, and be looking to develop their skills in the renewable energy sector.

The Role:

  • Co-ordinating and scheduling ornithology field surveys and surveyors;
  • Ornithology Technical Report writing,
  • Supporting senior ornithologists and other team members;
  • Collecting, managing and analysing ornithology survey data; and
  • Engaging with project managers, stakeholders and clients.

Skills & Experience:

  • An undergraduate degree in ecology/zoology or a related field, or sufficient experience and knowledge;
  • Experience in carrying out/co-ordinating bird surveys and analysing data;
  • A strong understanding of relevant ornithology survey guidance and legislation;
  • Full driving licence; and
  • GIS and Collision Risk Modelling experience and / or Schedule 1 species licence beneficial.

Planning Consultant / Senior Consultant

Arcus is recruiting motivated and enthusiastic Town Planners to join our English and Scottish teams at Planning Consultant level. The successful candidates will join a market leading planning team specialising in renewables planning.

The Role:

  • Planning support role within a planning team of 10 professional planners.
  • Preparation of all required planning documentation from feasibility to post consent.
  • Submission of renewable energy and infrastructure planning applications.
  • Assisting with Section 36 and NSIP projects.
  • Assistance with the team’s Business Development strategy where appropriate.

Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant Degree;
  • Licentiate Planner or qualified RTPI (or equivalent) Planner;
  • Consultancy and renewables experience preferred but not essential;
  • Understanding of EIA and multidisciplinary planning projects;
  • Detail conscious and interested in the preparation of planning reports.

Senior Hydrologist

South East England

The Role:

  • Chartered Membership of CIWEM, or working towards chartership;

Senior/Principal Landscape Architect

Graduate Landscape Architect

Our Landscape Architecture Team is looking for a talented Graduate Landscape Architect. The role is available in York or Glasgow.  This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their career as a Landscape Architect, working on an extremely diverse range of projects.

The Role:

  • Prepare, and support the production of hard and soft landscape designs;
  • Prepare hand drawn or computer-generated landscape visuals and graphics / presentations;
  • Support the production of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments; and
  • Work with colleagues on a range of local, regional and national scale projects.

Skills & Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in Landscape Architecture;
  • 0-3 years’ post qualification experience;
  • Previous experience using GIS, Adobe and AutoCAD to a proficient level;
  • Good graphic and presentation skills; and
  • Experience of working on Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA) a benefit.
