Senior Ecologist

South East England

The Arcus Ecology Team has an exciting opportunity for a talented Senior Ecologist with extensive ecological experience and an excellent working knowledge of ecological guidance, legislation and policy.

The Role:

  • Plan, co-ordinate and manage ecology surveys;
  • Conduct Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulation Appraisal and Appropriate Assessment for a range of developments;
  • Provide support to the Ecology Team, both in the office and in the field;
  • Support the team leader in managing junior members of the Ecology Team;
  • Provide strategic advice to clients relating to projects across a wide range of sectors; and
  • Manage projects and teams ensuring projects are delivered to schedule and budget.

Skills & Experience:

  • Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management;
  • Experience in Ecological Impact Assessment chapter writing;
  • Business development experience;
  • Habitats & botanical surveying skills (such as NVC survey);
  • Protected Species Licence holder having held Development licences in your own name.

Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant

South East England

We are recruiting for a talented, enthusiastic and motivated Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant to join our Environment Team.  The ideal candidate will be looking to expand on a broad range of experience and have specific expertise on high profile projects with major clients.

The Role:

  • Managing multi-disciplinary planning application projects;
  • Providing client advice across a wide range of sectors;
  • Reviewing the work of others; and
  • Coordinating production of complex technical documents (e.g. Environmental Statements).

Skills & Experience:

  • A degree in a relevant subject;
  • Experience working on multi-disciplinary consultancy projects;
  • Business development and networking experience; and
  • A driving licence is essential.

Acoustics Consultant / Senior Acoustics Consultant

North East England or South East England

Our Acoustics team has a number of opportunities for talented Consultants or Senior Consultants to support the delivery of high-quality noise and vibration services. Any successful candidate must be able to provide value to our clients, from initial consultation to delivery of clear, concise final reports.

The Role:

  • Managing Acoustics projects, such as Noise Impact Assessments;
  • Maintaining and building client relationships;
  • Supporting business development, specifically tender bids and client liaison; and
  • Advising clients in a range of sectors, including renewables, residential, construction etc.

Skills & Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in Acoustics;
  • Degree in Acoustics or related discipline;
  • Track record of delivering high-quality Acoustics-related insight to clients;
  • Ability to write clear, concise reports;
  • Experience of identifying business opportunities and preparing marketing campaigns for existing and new services; and
  • A driving licence is essential.

Associate Director, Environment Team

Glasgow

Arcus is recruiting a motivated and talented Associate Director to join our Environment Team in Glasgow. Working closely with the Arcus Operational Management Team, the successful candidate will build on an established client base to grow the team in both existing and new sectors.

The Role:

  • Maintaining and building our established client relationships and project portfolio;
  • Leading and coordinating business development initiatives;
  • Directing / managing multi-disciplinary projects including complex EIAs; and
  • Mentoring and developing colleagues within the Environment Team.

Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent leadership and management skills;
  • A proven track record in client and stakeholder management;
  • Experienced in managing multi-disciplinary projects;
  • Knowledge of the EIA process, preferably related to renewable energy projects;

Engineer / Senior Engineer – Hydrology

Glasgow or North East England

The Arcus Hydrology Team has an exciting new opportunity for a talented Engineer / Senior Engineer with a range of experience in sustainable foul and surface water drainage design with the skills and enthusiasm to work on a range of projects across the UK.

The Role:

  • Managing projects and coordinating complex technical documents such as SuDS Strategies and hydrology-related aspects of Environmental Impact Assessments;
  • Designing and developing detailed drainage solutions from inception to completion;
  • Proficient in the statutory undertakers approval process UK wide;
  • Maintaining and building on our established client relationships and projects;
  • Supporting business development activities, specifically input to tender bids and client liaison; and
  • Providing specific and strategic advice to clients regarding projects across a wide range of sectors.

Skills & Experience:

  • IEng but ideally CEng (or working towards);
  • Experience of producing Drainage Impact Assessments and SuDS Design of a range of developments;
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams;
  • Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
  • Familiarity with relevant software (Micro Drainage or InfoWorks software and CAD / Civils 3D).

The Arcus Hydrology Team are recruiting for an enthusiastic and talented Senior Hydrologist with a range of experience in fluvial hydraulic modelling and sustainable foul and surface water drainage design with the skills and enthusiasm to join the team to work on a range of projects across the UK.

The Role:

  • Managing projects and coordinating complex technical documents such as Flood Risk Assessments, SuDS Strategies and hydrology-related aspects of Environmental Impact Assessments;
  • Maintaining and building on our established client relationships and projects;
  • Mentoring and reviewing outputs of other team members;
  • Supporting business development activities, specifically input to tender bids and client liaison;
  • Providing specific and strategic advice to clients regarding projects across a wide range of sectors.

Skills & Experience:

  • Chartered Membership of CIWEM, or working towards chartership;
  • Previous experience in Flood Risk Assessment, Water Quality Monitoring and Hydraulic Modelling;
  • Experience of sustainable drainage design (SuDS) and ideally Water Quality Monitoring and Environmental Permitting;
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams;
  • Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
  • Familiarity with relevant software (Flood Modeller, ReFH, Winfap, ArcPro, GIS, CAD, etc).

Senior Landscape Architect

The Arcus Landscape Team are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and passionate Senior Landscape Architect to join the company.

The Role:

  • Preparation of high quality hard and soft landscape designs, masterplan, sections and montages;
  • Preparation of Landscape/Townscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA/TVIA) for a variety of projects;
  • Working with colleagues to develop visualisations for design, LVIA/TVIA and presentations;
  • Supporting Project Managers in the delivery of projects to programme and budget;
  • Reviewing the work of others to ensure high quality output;
  • Representing the company at client meetings, conferences and other events; and
  • Preparing and/or assisting with tender submissions for new projects.

Skills & Experience:

  • Degree/Diploma in Landscape Architecture and Chartered Membership (or working towards);
  • Expertise in landscape assessments, LVA and LVIA/TVIA; and
  • Excellent IT skills including AutoCAD, Photoshop, and a variety of graphics packages.

Senior / Principal Transport Engineer

South East England

We are recruiting a talented, enthusiastic and motivated Senior / Principal Transport Engineer with excellent project management and team leadership skills. This opportunity is well suited to someone who is looking to develop their existing skillset and support the establishment of a new office location.

The Role:

  • Managing projects to client specifications, in a timely manner and on budget;
  • Engaging with stakeholders and managing public consultations;
  • Presenting technical advice to clients and third parties, in a concise manner;
  • Motivating and managing junior members of staff; and
  • Working on transport infrastructure schemes, predominantly roads, but will also include support on the transport elements of a variety of power and renewable projects across the country.

Skills & Experience:

  • Chartered engineer (Incorporated Engineer will be considered) with ICE or CIHT;
  • A comprehensive grasp of transportation engineering design, as well as an appreciation of how this fits with wider environmental and economic aspects;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Ability to drive the development of the business; and
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
