Noise Impact Assessment for Battery Storage – Lancashire

Client – GCP Generation Ltd

Scope – A noise impact assessment was undertaken for a proposed reserve power plant in accordance with BS 4142:2014, located in Lancashire.  The plant consisted of six acoustically insulated containerised gas genset units, along with associated infrastructure including a gas kiosk, electrical switchgear, transformer and access track.  Noise modelling was undertaken to ensure the amenity of local residents would not be unreasonably impacted by the development.

Solution – It was recommended that each unit be designed with additional acoustic measures to ensure acceptable levels of impact at the receptors.  These included silencers within the stack or within the containers, attenuated grilles/louvres, acoustic seals and enhanced acoustic treatment to the internal walls of the containers.
